George Coulter Snr having spent time working as an apprentice for County Electrical Services UK Ltd (Bedfordshire) and further work again with Trojan Batteries in Hemel Hempstead & Hertfordshire, returned to his native Fermanagh with a wealth of knowledge and experience gained to found G.C. Battery Works.
Battery production began in 1965. Seeing great success manufacturing hundreds of batteries on a weekly basis and managing distribution all over Northern Ireland and even further abroad. More times than not, George himself would have regularly travelled across the country, delivering the batteries to customers in person. The company van as seen in the blog photograph.
As time passed George Coulter Snr retired, passing the reins unto his son Robert in 1994. The company, still with its roots heavily planted in batteries, also branched out into the world of Electrical Fencing. Still a fairly new technology, Robert also found great success partnering with Hotline, Rutland, Gallagher, and other leading brands for many years.
Fast forward to the present day, as battery production moved to, quicker, cheaper methods of production in India and China, sadly battery production came to an end. As a result the company expanded heavily into a wider range of automotive & leisure batteries and electrical fencing products from partners across the globe.
2025 will be a year for much celebration for the company, an achievement that could not have be made, without our loyal customers from the early days of battery production up until now in the present day. To all our customers we say a huge thank you.
