Higher Strand Counts offer higher breaking strengths and better conductivity but for a higher overall cost. For larger Energizer Units charging higher lengths of fencing we recommend using at least 9-Strand poly wire. We also recommend for any fence over 500m that 9-Strand be used, to ensure optimal charging from your Energizer.
Lower Strand counts whilst weaker and less conductive, are more cost effective and safer for animals. In the event of an animal breaching the fence perimeter lower breaking strengths can lessen the chance of the animal injuring itself when it becomes entangled.
